The head office of the company is in Ibach, Schwyz, in the heart of Switzerland. This is where the founder of the company Karl Elsener first set up his cutler s business in 1884 and, a few years later, designed the legendary Original Swiss Army Knife.

The various tools are manufactured from high-quality steel with precisely tuned features that are essential for the particular application. The steel is tempered, annealed and polished to achieve the necessary hardness and provide optimum resistance to corrosion.

To re-sharpen your knife, use a whetstone at an angle of 15 20 . This will result in a cutting angle of 30 40 . If sharpening on a grinding wheel, always cool with plenty of water to avoid excessive temperatures and the resulting damages that may occur.

SwissTool Spirit Tools About Victorinox In 1884, Swiss cutler Karl Elsener set up shop in Ibach-Schwyz, installing a waterwheel in Tobelbach Brook to run his grinding and polishing machines. Thus began what would become the international brand name Victorinox, a combination of Victoria, for Elsener s mother, and inox, or stainless steel. Today, Victorinox produces watches, luggage, clothing, and, famously, Swiss Army Knives. The original product dates to 1897, when Elsener patented the Swiss Officer s and Sports Knife he supplied to the Swiss Army. Following World War II, American servicemen and women shopping in PX stores shortened the name to Swiss Army Knife, which lives on in English-speaking countries around the world and has become a metaphor for versatility.

Get your hands on one of these This is the kind of TOP TIER QUALITY you ve been looking for in a multi tool. The ergonomic handle is smooth and very comfortable in the hand. No burrs or rough edges anywhere on this bad boy. Just a fistful of easily accessed tools that open smoothly no broken fingernails here , lock up tight and close really well thanks to a nicely engineered lock break. If I have a single complaint with this product it would be the rounded nose on the knife blade. I understand that this type of configuration would be safer to use, especially in the hands of an inexperienced user. In all fairness this blade does work well for most applications and is in no way a deal breaker. Personally I would prefer a pointed blade. It would be nice if Victorinox offered a choice of configurations but to the best of my knowledge I don t believe they do . I ve owned this tool for about 4 years now. If it s not on me it s usually within easy reach. I can tell you from experience, this product is definitely the real deal. Try one of these, I believe you ll like it.
